Something I’ve been recently pondering, that I wanted to share..
A world of words, it seems absurd. That everything we perceive has a label, a name, and from this name an agreement is made.
And from these agreements, we form beliefs – we ‘think’ we know what these ‘things’ are.
Even as I’m writing this now, it’s all a culmination of agreed words.. but I’m pointing towards an idea.
So whether it be a tree, the sky, a bird, the human body, the breath, even space.. there’s a name, a label, and therefore a collective agreement for it all.
Humans were born out of this world, but rather than remaining a child of the earth, in awe and wonder, we instead dissected it, and created a meaning for everything.
We put it all neatly into boxes, so that our minds were put at rest, so that we didn’t need to question life anymore. Instead, we came to the conclusion that anything that we can perceive must be separate from us. But with what proof? If any thought or thing is a manmade agreement?
When this sinks in, we realise how actually, we don’t ‘know’ anything.. and the magic of this existence begins to emerge.
This is why we have our intuition – our inner knowing – which we can tap into, rather than believing in someone else’s narrative. But this intuition tends to become clouded over, diluted underneath the collective agreements and beliefs that we have ingrained so deeply within the psyche.
But we cannot be blamed for our ignorance, because society taught us that we are limited beings – that we are separate from the whole of existence – that we are lacking, so that we must do all we can to survive.
This belief of separation and lack creates fear – also a manmade agreement (that one must be fearful and not have faith & trust intuition). So the cycle continues of fear – lack – take/grasp/hold onto outcomes or possessions.
So if we strip it back, what are words? What is anything? It’s all an agreement – a manmade agreement.
This creates a need for things to be a certain way. And if our expectation or perceived needs are not met, this is when the suffering/pain/turmoil comes – so we create our own suffering due to the meaning that we place upon things.
Of course we need words and language to get by in life with more ease, however it becomes a problem when we start believing in things that are detrimental to us.
So peeling back the beliefs, the expectations, the thoughts, the words.. what is left?
Life. Freedom. Natural joy. Expression. Playfulness. Love.
The heart opens when we remove fear. And fear is created from the expectations and beliefs that we form, based upon the collective agreements that are made.
But what is anything really?
Happiness and peace don’t come from getting what we want. They are the natural essence of our being, and what remains once the seeking for the happiness and peace comes to an end.
